One good thing about Digital Photos are that they can be duplicated just by copy and paste command in the computer. That’s a great feature of Digital photos, but you may not always want to keep multiple copies of a single photo in your photo library. I have written a tutorial to keep your photos organized in the best possible way, but if it doesn’t help you or you were not following the steps I mentioned, here is a trick to find and delete duplicate photos in your hard drive.
Note: You should keep a backup of your data on an external hard drive or use any online image storage service, just to be on the safe side.
Finding and Deleting Photos Manually
If there are any duplicate photos on your hard drive, they may possibly have the same name such as DCIM001, DCIM002¸ depending on the camera they have been shot from, or even the files that are being downloaded from the internet have the same name. You can easily do a local file search using first few characters of the name to find related photos, find and delete the identical photos.Finding and Deleting Photos with an Application

Note: Be sure to remove the external drive from your computer as the application might show identical photos from there as well, and you might end up deleting photos from your backup source.
